Wooly Rouge was born from the encounter between the Franco-Bosnian Nadira Škaljić and knitting artisans from Bosnia-Herzegovina, heirs to a long tradition that was fading away due to a lack of economic opportunities. "Their talent and their life stories immediately touched me. I knew instantly that we had a shared history to write," recalls Nadira.

From the outset, the project was built on a strong social and cultural dimension: to offer knitters the opportunity for social and financial emancipation by transforming what was until then only a domestic activity into a professional activity recognized within their communities, and properly remunerated.

To date, more than 1,200 women have been trained in Wooly Rouge workshops , which thus participates in safeguarding an ancestral tradition, but ultimately more modern than ever.
